Bill and Elizabeth Bryce started their Seafood Restaurant and Pub at the White Hart, Stopham Bridge in 1983 after a career in hotel management and cooking. In 1992, we had the opportunity to acquire The Old School House at Ockley. We had known this famous old pub for many years and were delighted to re-locate our successful concept to Surrey.
Twenty-three years on and we are still welcoming customers from the original place and their families, many of whom have entrusted us with very special occasions, such as Weddings, Christenings, Birthdays and Anniversaries.
Our philosophy when we started was the same as today. To serve the very best Fresh Fish and Seafood in the simplest manner. To achieve this end, we have an enviable list of suppliers with whom we have built a great rapport over the years. Shellfish comes mainly from Scotland with our fantastic Shetland Mussels. Great lobsters come from the channel at Shoreham, as does much of the fish on our menu. Landed by day boats means this fish could not be fresher. Supplies also come from Brixham in Devon and for the rest, we have a trusted 6 days a week supply from the main London market at Billingsgate.
Non fish eaters are well catered for with Scotch Steaks, Sussex Pork and Chicken and our famous Steak and Kidney Puddings in the Winter, when we also offer Sunday Roast Beef!! Vegetarian eaters can choose from their own special menu which changes every 3 months as does our main menu, to reflect the seasonal produce available.
Why not be part of our future story, come along and try us for yourself, we’d be very pleased to welcome you !!
